Our international language school in Santo Domingo de Heredia offers year-long Spanish courses for all Spanish proficiency levels. You can begin your course on any Monday of the year, and you will learn Spanish together with students from all over the world. In addition, you will experience the Costa Rican culture while participating in our lively activities and exploring the country on our excursions. A great assistance during your stay in Costa Rica will be the clearly spoken Spanish of the inhabitants, allowing you to understand your conversations more easily and encouraging you to reproduce the words that you have heard - you'll progress quickly and have fun experiencing the Latin culture at the same time. Academia Columbus Costa Rica, founded in 2005, is located in the picturesque town of Santo Domingo, just 5 km (3 miles) from the capital city of San José. The school is surrounded by a tropical garden with palm trees and exotic plants, and has 15 bright, spacious classrooms. There is a large hall which is used for social activities such as dancing or drama classes. During the breaks and after lessons have finished, students can relax and enjoy the sunshine in the garden´s sitting area. Lessons can also be held in the garden if students wish. There are various shops, restaurants and bars within walking distance of the school. The centers of San José and Heredia are just 10 to 15 minutes away by bus. Wireless internet is free of charge for our students to use. Alternatively, you can also use one of the Internet cafés located near the school for a small charge. The school provides tea, coffee and water free of charge. There is also a small shop close to the school that sells drinks and snacks at reasonable prices.
